‘Waste-to-Energy’ Mass Burn Incinerator Information Day, 17th Jan. 2009
My name is Claire Wheeler and I am representing Dublin South-East Greens. I hold a primary degree in Engineering Science from Trinity College, and have worked in industry for 13 years as an electronics engineer. I am not claiming professional competence in any of the issues raised.
Now, with the country facing a devastating recession, Green Ministers are working in Cabinet to minimise adverse impacts on those lease able to take them. There is justified public outrage at the shocking level of mismanagement of the economy over the last decade.
For me the Green Party is about improving Quality of Life by enabling an inclusive society, a sustainable economy and a a pleasant environment.
Many people in Dublin are excluded from enjoying, and participating fully in, the life of our great City. This can be because of poverty; the scourge of drug-related crime; anti-social behaviour; bad housing; transport and mobility difficulties; or atmospheric and noise pollution.
The range and standard of services provided by Dublin City Council are essential elements in improving the quality of life of all Dubliners.
