Vision for Dublin

The Green Party today launched its ‘Vision for Dublin’ and said rezoning in Dublin’s city and surrounds should be a thing of the past. The vision includes:

  • Doubling time for pedestrians to cross at traffic lights
  • 30km speed limits in residential areas
  • Trees on every residential street
  • Develop the South Docks and Poolbeg Peninsula as flagship eco-districts
  • More allotments and community gardens
  • New Luas lines from Poolbeg to Rathfarm and Tallaght to Saggart

The vision for the inner city is:

  • Provide allotments in the Phoenix Park, and an open-air café in Stephens Green
  • Provide cycle paths and walkways along our canals.
  • Build the Sutton to Sandycove cycle-way
  • Set up a Dublin Rivers Taskforce
  • Make Dublin Bay clean and sparkling
  • Provide a car-free College Green
  • Join the Luas lines in Dublin - down O’Connell Street, Dawson Street and College Green and continue to Finglas
  • Provide urban beaches over the summer months in city parks
  • Transform the Quays into a Liffey Boulevard that’s car-free one Sunday a month
  • Natural flood protection with green eco-parks near waterways
