Claire Wheeler, the local area representative of the Green party for the South East Inner City, today warmly welcomed the Government’s announcement of funding of €320,000 to Community Development projects in the area.
The local grants are to the following organizations and projects:
Ringsend Action Project €72,662
South Inner City Community Development Association (SICCDA) €131,600
Southside Women's Action Network (SWAN) €119,380
This funding to Projects and organisations is made possible due to the commitment made by the Government to provide support for the Community Sector contained in the Programme for Government.
Welcoming the funding Claire Wheeler said:
"These are very important and hardworking local groups. The South East Inner City unfortunately still contains many areas of deprivation and disadvantage. Some of these communities have hardly recovered from the devastation of the last recession, particularly in terms of the legacy of drug abuse and long-term unemployment. I welcome this funding announcement as a message that even in these difficult economic times, the Green Party in Government is maintaining its long-held commitment to combating social exclusion.’
